Bible Chapter Summary

Matthew 11 Summary

John's Question and Jesus's Testimony

While Jesus teaches and preaches in the cities, John the Baptist, imprisoned, sends disciples to ask if Jesus is the one to come or if another is expected. Jesus responds by describing his works: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the gospel is preached to the poor. After John's messengers depart, Jesus praises John as a great prophet, greater than all born of women, yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
