Bible Chapter Summary

Matthew 9 Summary

Miracles of Healing and the Call of Matthew

Jesus returns to his own city and heals a man sick of palsy, forgiving his sins and demonstrating that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins. He calls Matthew the publican to follow him, then teaches that he came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. Jesus heals a woman diseased with an issue of blood and raises the daughter of a ruler from the dead, while two blind men and a dumb possessed man are also healed, spreading his fame throughout the land.
