Bible Chapter Summary
Nehemiah 10 Summary
Covenant to Keep God's Law
Nehemiah, Zidkijah, and leaders among the priests, Levites, and people seal a written covenant. They vow to walk in God's law given by Moses, observe His commandments and judgments, refuse intermarriage with non-Israelites, avoid buying or selling on the Sabbath, leave the seventh-year land fallow, support the temple service with an annual shekel tax, bring firstfruits and firstborn animals, and ensure tithes reach the Levites. The covenant binds the entire community to obedience.
