Bible Chapter Summary

Psalms 149 Summary

Rejoicing and Divine Vengeance

The psalmist calls for a new song sung unto the Lord in the congregation of saints, with Israel and Zion's children rejoicing in their Maker and King. He bids praise to be sung with dancing, timbrel, and harp, for the Lord takes pleasure in His people and beautifies the meek with salvation. The saints are exhorted to be joyful in glory and sing aloud from their beds, carrying high praises of God in their mouths and a two-edged sword in their hands to execute vengeance on nations and bind their kings and nobles with chains.
