Bible Chapter Summary
Psalms 17 Summary
Prayer for God's judgment and protection
The psalmist prays for God to hear his righteous plea and attend to his sincere prayer. He asks that his sentence come from God's presence with justice, having been proved in his heart and tried in the night, with his mouth purposing not to transgress. Guided by God's word, he has kept from the destroyer's paths. He calls upon God to show His marvelous lovingkindness, keep him as the apple of His eye and hide him under His wings from wicked oppressors who compass him about. The psalmist vows that as for himself, he will behold God's face in righteousness and awake satisfied with His likeness.
