Bible Chapter Summary
Psalms 18 Summary
Deliverance through God's strength and power
The psalmist declares his love for the LORD, his strength, rock, fortress, and deliverer. He calls upon the LORD, worthy of praise, for salvation from enemies. Though the sorrows of death, floods of ungodly men, and snares of hell compassed him, his cry reached God's ears and the earth shook with divine wrath. God descended with smoke and fire from His nostrils, bowed the heavens, rode upon a cherub, and sent forth arrows and lightnings that scattered the enemy. Drawing the psalmist from many waters, God delivered him from strong enemies because He delighted in him. God rewarded his righteousness according to the cleanness of his hands, showing mercy to the merciful, purity to the pure, and salvation to the afflicted.
