Psalms 71 Summary

Prayer for Deliverance and Continued Praise

The psalmist appeals to God for trust and refuge, asking to be delivered from wicked enemies and assured never to be abandoned in old age. From youth God has been his strength and protector, and the psalmist commits to declaring God's works and righteousness to future generations despite his enemies' false claims that God has forsaken him. Throughout the psalm, he vows to continuously praise God with music and declare His salvation and wondrous deeds.
