Bible Chapter Summary

Ruth 2 Summary

Ruth gleans in Boaz's field

Naomi has a kinsman named Boaz, a mighty man of wealth. Ruth asks to glean in the fields, and her lot falls upon Boaz's field. Boaz asks his servant about her and learns she is the Moabitess who returned with Naomi and has worked since morning without rest. He grants her protection, tells her to drink from his servants' vessels, and secretly instructs his men to leave extra grain for her. Ruth gleans until evening, gathering about an ephah of barley. When Naomi learns Ruth worked for Boaz, she recognizes he is a near kinsman and expresses confidence in his kindness.
