Bible Chapter Summary

Ruth 3 Summary

Ruth appeals to Boaz at the threshing floor

Naomi seeks rest and security for Ruth, instructing her to go to the threshing floor where Boaz winnows barley. After he eats and drinks and lies down, Ruth uncovers his feet and lies there. At midnight Boaz wakes and discovers Ruth. She asks him to spread his skirt over her, calling herself his handmaid and noting he is a near kinsman. Boaz praises her virtue, saying she has shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning. He acknowledges there is a nearer kinsman but promises to deal with the matter, giving her six measures of barley before she departs at dawn.
